Jurassic World Dominion Review – An Entertaining But Forgettable Ending

Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World Dominion is finally here to finally end the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World sagas, both of which began in 1993. After watching Jurassic World: Dominion, it is easy to state that the franchise was at its peak in the beginning, when Steven Spielberg was in charge. Jurassic Park (1993) and Jurassic World (2015) remain the franchise's two best films, with The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) trailing closely behind. Jurassic World: Dominion is far from the best or even the best of the trilogy, but it is an interesting watch. Watch Jurassic World Dominion online stream.

An Exciting Comeback for Jurassic World

Although nostalgia has spread to the point where it could essentially serve as media currency at this point, there are some films where it just works. One such movie, Jurassic World Dominion, successfully blends the heroes of the present with those of the 1990s. Experience the epic climax of the Jurassic period, this summer as two generations come together for the first time.

In Jurassic World Dominion, a daring, timely, and breathtaking new adventure that spans the globe, Oscar winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and Sam Neill join Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. Dominion, which Colin Trevorrow created and directed, takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. All around the planet, dinosaurs now coexist with people and hunt alongside them. This precarious equilibrium will change the course of history and decide, once and for all, whether humans will continue to be the top predators on the planet they now share with the most dreadful creatures in recorded history.

Not Perfect But Reasonable Plot of Jurassic World Dominion

Following a drawn-out and disjointed prologue, Trevorrow takes us to an Iowa cornfield where swarms of cat-sized locusts are robbing it bare. Ellie asks her ex-boyfriend Alan to look around Biosyn's offices with her since she has a suspicion that the firm is responsible for creating these ravaging creatures. Fortunately for them, Ian, who still like to wear black shirts and unbutton them a bit too far down his chest, is Biosyn's in-house philosophy lecturer. The Jurassic Park crew will soon be back together, and it will be fun to see frustrated Alan, fired-up Ellie, and spaced-out Ian chatting once more after more than 30 years.

In the meantime, Biosyn is causing problems for Owen and Claire as well. Since the last movie, they had been happily residing in a cabin in the woods. Owen is a rancher, whereas Claire is active in the dino rights movement (or, more accurately, dinosaurboy). The family's adopted teenage daughter Maisie, who also happens to be a clone and their pet velociraptor are subsequently taken hostage by a group of mercenaries who were paid by you-know-who. They make contact with the surprisingly large number of friends they have in the secret services, and with the aid of a reckless pilot named Kayla, who is essentially a black bisexual Han Solo, they set out to rescue Maisie.

Most of those live things look really amazing too! There are a few atrociraptors that have a rough appearance, and Dominion does appear to rely more heavily on VFX than previous games. However, the purpose of these new raptors is more one of form than of utility. Any distractions provided by more unusual-looking dinos are confined to fleeting glimpses and serve only as quick-moving foils to Owen, Claire, and Kayla in the narrative. Everything else in the film is action-packed, with thrilling raptor chases, dinosaur-on-dinosaur combat, and the reappearance of fan favorites like Blue, Rexy, and the dilophosaurus. And don't worry, the only dinosaurs who have a peculiar appearance are those atrociraptors!

Stellar Performances in Jurassic World Dominion

The cast ensemble of Jurassic World Dominion basically made this film better. While Jeff Goldblum largely functioned as the comic relief, Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern all gave heartfelt performances in their roles. The rest of the cast gave them fantastic support, which made it fascinating to witness all the messy things that happened in the movie.

The reappearance of Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum—as doctors Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm, respectively—is as joyful as one might anticipate after missing them on screen for almost 30 years. But what's more significant is that they don't feel forced into the World franchise.

The three writers—Emily Carmichael, Colin Trevorrow, and Derek Connolly—did not come up with any absurd justification for Claire and Owen to seek assistance from any of them. Instead, their paths meet in a way that seems quite natural and readily validates everyone's inclusion in the narrative. Everyone is working to save the planet while trying to preserve the dinosaurs that humans have brought back as secure as possible without swapping character ambitions with anybody else.

All in all, Jurassic World Dominion introduces an impressive marriage between ever-present nostalgia and the constantly changing challenges of having extinct animals roaming free in our world, even though it is undeniably an imperfect addition to the Jurassic Park franchise, especially with the rough presentation of some newer dinosaurs and its lack of faith in audience intelligence. Even if some of the Claire and Owen scenes occasionally cause the plane's engine to splutter, the picture is kept afloat by a cast of both fresh and familiar faces.
