Through this connection, Miranda fell in love with Ian McAndrick, the two planning on getting married on Christmas day at the Carlton Heath Inn owned by Ian's parents, the Inn where Miranda and Ian will begin their lives. Christmas is an important time of the year for the two of them in their relationship, the reason for choosing it as their wedding date. Beyond many family members performing in "A Christmas Carol" on Christmas Eve at the local James Whitcomb Theater, the wedding becomes more complex with Margaret inviting many of James' long lost friends to the wedding, one in particular who may make Margaret distracted from everything else in her life, and with Miranda possibly discovering that what was her non-existent family life just two years ago may be expanded by even one more if the story told to her is true.
