Lucifer and Chloe witness the murder of Jared Holbrook, who was mysteriously murdered during the final performance of Magner the Magician, Jared's mentor who was supposed to take over the mantle. Towards the end of Lucifer and Chloe's investigation, it was revealed that Magnal's son Alan was the murderer because he wanted his father's inheritance, but Magnal gave it to Jared instead. He holds Chloe at knife point and takes her to a secret passageway.
Lucifer had been depressed for a month after Cain's passing and Charlotte Richards' ascension to Heaven by Amenadiel, and he speculates about Chloe's possible reactions to the news that he is the Devil himself. Chloe finally shows up at the scene of a murdered beekeeper, Bob Goldbach, much to Lucifer's consternation. The two run across Goldbach's WITSEC handler, U.S. Marshal Luke Reynolds, as they attempt to get back in touch. They check with members of Bob's crime family in Los Angeles after learning he was a mob enforcer to look for potential suspects, but none are found.
When a criminal is on the run, Lucifer stops him, steals his clothes, and then convinces the cops to bring the man back to Los Angeles. Linda resists his request to take off his repaired wings. Chloe assigns him to work with her new lieutenant, Marcus Pierce, on a case involving a desiccated body discovered in the desert. The wealthy man's body is discovered, and his close buddy admits that he hired "kidnappers" to trick the victim. Amenadiel finds Lucifer's self-severed set of wings while working to repair his own.
Lucifer believes that his mother's spirit is tormenting him in the murderer's body when he assists Chloe with a murder case involving a stand-alike for a well-known teen show actress. The universe was created by the coupling of Lucifer's father and mother, but his mother was ultimately consigned to Hell for all time,. Lucifer is informed by Chloe that she has some of his blood from the gunshot and intends to test it to support or refute his assertions that he is the devil.
Lucifer Morningstar, bored from his sulking life in hell, comes to live in Los Angeles. The fourth season takes place in March 1986, and is split into various story arcs. The first arc takes place in Hawkins, where several teenagers are mysteriously killed. Starring Dustin Henderson, Max Mayfield, Lucas and Erica Sinclair, Steve Harrington, Nancy Wheeler, Robin Buckley and Hellfire Club leader Eddie Manson. A Dungeons & Dragons group that includes Dustin and his friends. Eddie is being tracked down by Jason Carver and members of the basketball team, who believe Eddie killed his girlfriend.
In the summer of 1985, Hawkins' newly opened Starcourt Mall became the focus of town, and its popularity forced other stores to close. Hopper objects to Eleven and Mike's relationship. Joyce considers moving out of Hawkins with her children. Joyce enlists Hopper's help to investigate why her magnet has lost its magnetism. Will begins to have hunches about the Upside Down, even though Eleven has closed the portal. The Mind Flayer takes control of Billy's mind, and Eleven and her friends have no choice but to fight Billy.
Will Byers discovers that he is the target of the Upside Down in the fall of 1984 when the Mind Flayer, a large tentacled creature, begins terrorizing the residents of Hawkins and draws Joyce, Hopper, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas, as well as Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve, the boyfriend of Nancy, back to their hometown. To stop the menace from growing, the entire group, Max Mayfield, a newcomer from California, and an unaccounted-for Eleven must once more work together.
