Goodman is puzzled by the appearance of a toy soldier next to the corpse and learns, not only that Dan's ex-spouse and current trophy wife are in the party though apparently friends, but that Dan's colleague Sam Blake had argued with him over a professional matter and student Jonathan Taylor was a drug smuggler Dan exposed. Taylor is arrested but ultimately the toy soldier gives Goodman the clue to the way the murder was carried out.Scotland Yard's DI Richard Poole is summoned to the Caribbean island of Sainte Marie to investigate the death of a fellow officer. As a result, he is sent to the local police department to work as an officer. Poole demonstrates his investigative skills by handling a number of tough situations. He dislikes the quick speed of the island, as well as the heat and sand; he also dislikes seafood. Aside from that, the facility is fantastic. In later episodes, the investigation team will be led by English and Irish police officers Humphrey Goodman, Jack Mooney, and Neville Parker.
