When the weather forecast is not favorable, Rio and Mike are forced to devise a new plan for their soil. Rio tries to meet new neighbors at the Bowman's potluck but ends up spicing up her sexual relationship with Mike. Rio finally gets Constance to open up to her and learns that Constance likes Rudy while Mike tries to blend in with the Coffee Boys to shed his previous moniker. Rio confronts some difficult situations as a result of having trouble adjusting to the social and cultural differences between New York and Nebraska; Mike and Rio persuade Rudy and Beau to move outside of their comfort zones by encouraging them to communicate their feelings. Rio and Mike must find ways to make money in order to purchase a new water heater; Mike chooses to sell the eggs from their hens at the neighborhood farmers market; Rio looks for new therapy customers. Rudy and Constance have a fling, Kay and Beau are having marital problems, and Mike and Rio enter their prized chicken in the county fair's best hen competition to show themselves to the neighborhood.
