The Youth Governor Trailer (2022)

The Youth Governor is about 4,000 teens running a fully functioning government in the lobby of the California State Capitol that includes lawmakers, lobbyists, party bosses and elections. Over a four-month period, three candidates were selected from a pool of 40 candidates to compete as the 72nd Youth Governor. On the campaign trail, in their homes, and under the watchful eye of their peers, we discover how these aspiring politicians combined the unique combination of ambition and activism needed to win. "It's not a weekend getaway or a class, it's a four-month immersion experience," say directors Matthew and Jaron Halmy. "It's fascinating and inspiring to watch these kids lose themselves in the democratic and electoral process with complete faith."
