In the four years that they have operated, they arguably have their most important clients this season in the Andersons, expat British aristocracy, fifty-third in line to the British throne. David and Helen Anderson, who will be away in London until December 23rd, have hired them to accomplish three tasks in their absence: decorate the mansion, purchase Christmas gifts for a set list of people, and plan their Christmas Eve party at a hotel already booked. Lauren and Colleen's task is made all the more difficult in that Lauren will basically be working this file on her own as Colleen deals with other clients, and as David and Helen's list is bare bones in terms of details, leaving Lauren to fill in the gaps of exactly what those Anderson family Christmas traditions are. In doing so, Lauren consults the two people who have remained stateside: Joyce, the Andersons' longtime housekeeper, and David and Helen's son James, who is preoccupied in completing a business acquisition for the family before Christmas. While Joyce is able to fill in some of those gaps, James is less helpful in seemingly having lost any interest in Christmas. As Lauren tries to fill in those gaps from what she is able to discover, she seems to have reawakened the Christmas spirit in James. In the process, James and Lauren start to fall for each other. What may be a hurdle in them getting together is Lauren's own insecurities in that she is not in the same social class as James, especially noticeable as James has reconnected with his childhood friend Maryam who on paper is better suited to him, something that Maryam also sees is the case.
