13: The Musical tells a story of growing up, showing the unforgettable ups and downs of pre-adolescence. After her parents divorced, 12-year-old Evan Goldman left New York with her mother, Jessica. Evan was saddened to have to leave all his friends, his father, and the rabbi as the Ordination approached. But at his grandmother's house in the small Indiana town of Walkerton, he's trying to make new friends and has turned his bark into the coolest party ever. As an outsider, Evan struggles to adjust to the complex social circles at his new school, and he soon discovers that he's not the only eighth grader struggling with that anxiety. While his new friends Patrice and Archie fret over the fate of Earth and unrequited love, respectively, popular cheerleader Lucy desperately tries to stop her crush Brett and best friend Kendra from kissing for the first time. To make matters worse, Evan invites super-popular kids to his party, but they don't get on well with Patrice. Because of these conflicts of interest, Evan is faced with the impossible task of getting everyone together happily for his party on schedule or risking a social rupture.
